Today is World MS Day. Multiple Sclerosis affects over 2.3 million people around the world. I am one of these people. In October 2018, after months of numbness and nerve pain, at 43 years old, I received a positive diagnosis. I’m not sure how long I’ve actually had MS, it’s possible I’ve had it for much longer. My first relapse/symptoms started days after a tragic family event. I am grateful that it only took 10 weeks for me to get a positive diagnosis, so many people fight for a diagnosis for years. I currently receive Ocrevus infusions every 6 months, this has been a miracle drug for me. I tried one DMT before Ocrevus and while my MRIs remained stable the side effects were too much. This last year and a half has taught me so much, I’ve spent a lot of time grieving for myself. I have finally reach a point of acceptance. I’m not sure what the future will bring.
